*Momma Beautiful*Getting myself together on the average morning is almost impossible due to the increasingly urgent demands of my little ones. My two-year-old needs to be present when I apply any makeup and she's not shy about laying claims on my products- "Give me lipstick!"- "put cream on MY face!"- I'm raising quite the mini maven. Unfortunately this is also the reason I'm unable to leave the house wearing any actual makeup- by the time I get around to wrestling the lipstick from my toddler the baby begins to fuss and it's all over. It's holiday party season and now is the time to look and feel gorgeous. I've learned a few tricks through my years as a editorial and bridal makeup artist on how to get camera-ready and beautiful *fast* and I'm going to share them because nobody needs to get ready as quickly as a momma usually does. Here's how to short-cut your beauty routine and still look amazing for that holiday event; -Before you go to bed the night before the big party, drink a tall glass of water and exfoliate your face with a gentle scrub like St. Ives Apricot scrub http://tinyurl.com/7xl7can. Slather on a rich moisturizer like Weleda's Skin Food* *http://tinyurl.com/7st6hm3. The scrub and moisturizer will prep and prime your skin for a smooth makeup application the next day. The water will keep you from getting dehydrated while you sleep- well hydrated skin is youthful skin. -Forget about applying foundation with a sponge or brush. It takes too long and often leads to too heavy an application which looks unnatural. Put a dime-size dollop of foundation in the palm of your hand and sheer it out with a dab of moisturizer. Mix together and blend into your face with your palms. Keep buffing until your skin glows. -I'm convinced cream blush is a total waste of time and money. Make your favorite lipstick do double-duty by dotting it from the apple of your cheek up your cheekbones. Blend with your fingers in a circular motion. Take the same lipstick and dab it on your lips. Blot and reapply. Now you've got gorgeous, coordinated color! It helps if the lipstick is a little sheer and creamy like Clinique's Butter Shine Lipstick http://tinyurl.com/7t9ndm9. -In a pinch, all you need to look party-ready is mascara, red lipstick and pressed powder in your purse for touch-ups. Lip liner is not necessary. Just apply, blot and reapply using your fingers to clean up the lip line. This is a more youthful and modern way to wear a red lip. Don't worry about curling your lashes before mascara- apply your mascara, wait a minute for it to dry and gently press upward against your lashline for lift and curl. Beautiful! Now get out there and enjoy the holiday season, you Hot Momma!
